In a world where inspiration can be found in the most unexpected places, the students of the Oregon City School District’s Transition Program, Bridges to Independence, recently discovered a wellspring of motivation in their own backyard – Miles Fiberglass. This local business has become a shining example of how hard work and unwavering integrity can lead to remarkable success. Their journey is a testament to the fact that dreams can be achieved, no matter where you start.
As part of Manufacturing Day, these young minds embarked on a unique journey, one that would change their perspective on life, work, and the boundless opportunities that await them. Their tour of Miles Fiberglass and Composite manufacturing facility was more than just a field trip – it was a transformational experience.
Fiberglass might seem like a simple material, but the students quickly realized it’s the foundation for a wide array of products that we use in our daily lives. From underwater cars and vehicle components to RV parts and military shelters, fiberglass plays a vital role in modern manufacturing. This realization was eye-opening for the students, making them appreciate the importance of the industry and the potential it holds. One of the staff members gave a great example of what is a fiberglass mold. “It’s like an ice cube tray, you fill up the inside and when its ready, you release it out of the mold.”
The staff and students of Bridges to Independence extend their heartfelt gratitude to Miles Fiberglass for this enlightening experience. It’s not just a tour; it’s an opportunity to dream, to aspire, and to set their sights high. These young minds now understand that the pursuit of knowledge, personal growth, and career success is an ongoing journey.
